nuke accord

I'm cautiously (very cautiously) hopeful about the accord with North Korea. Maybe this will show the administration say diplomacy with Syria and Iran could work. Of course Sec. Rice used the speech to give a backdoor jab at the Russians and Chinese over Iran. i.e. Join us on a multilateral push to force them.

Although with Kim Jong-wack job who knows. Our Former UN Ambd. John Bolton came out against it. Oops.

Interestingly it is basically the same deal Clinton gave N.Korea and then the Republican Senate and House destroyed it. One reason may have been the multilateral Bush way versus the direct Clinton talks. Although some are saying it is worse [one of the guests in the link above on Jim Lehrer Newshour]. George Bush described the N.Koreans as an Axis of Evil, pulled the plug on any diplomacy and now they have a bomb and can blackmail oil prices.

N Korea as Barnett says is what is stopping an Asian NATO. Eventually N.Korea has to fall apart or perhaps be overthrown--or Jong assassinated by the Chinese.
